It is with great sadness that the family of Michael J. Caslin Jr. announce his passing peacefully, after a blessed life, on Friday, February 16, 2018, at the age of 93 and ½ years. Michael will be lovingly remembered by his wife of 66 years, Mary Rose Harkins Caslin, and their children, Mary, Colleen, Michael, Kathleen and Edward. He was an adored Grandfather of his nine grandchildren, Colleen Mary, Katya Mary, Nola, Luke, Katie, Michael, Mikey, Rory, and Tricie and his great granddaughter, Isla. In addition, his love extended to his two son-in-laws, Alex Ross and Gerard Schmit, along with daughter-in-law, Irene Caslin. Michael was a faithful communicant, both at St. Margaret’s R.C. Church and St. Mary’s Manhasset R.C. Church and a proud member of the Knights of Columbus, The Elks, LaSalle High School Alumni Club, and NYC Basketball Hall of Fame. Family was his center. A man of unforgettable kindness and compassion, Michael held a place in the hearts of everyone that he touched. His humility was remarkable, his love of country spoke volumes, his faith in God never ceased, and his devotion to his family was his core. A private family Mass and service will be held in the next week and a Memorial Service to celebrate his life will be held at a later date for friends and relatives.
